Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of CIT Cork School of Music’s brightest young talents. Fifteen-year-old rising star Kevin Jansson will give piano recitals at the CIT Cork School of Music Cork on Friday 11th December and in Christ Church Waterford on Tuesday 15th December at 8pm. They are both charity events - for The Friends of Marymount in Cork and The Bell Restoration Fund in Christ Church Waterford.
Kevin received a standing ovation from the capacity audience at the Curtis Auditiorium after a performance of Mozart’s Concerto in D Minor with the CSM Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Geoffrey Spratt in May 2013. He has also played at the launch of the New Ross Piano Festival and has performed concerts as part of Music for Wexford and at Calary in Co. Wicklow. He has recently completed the Finlay Programme for Gifted Pianists run by the Dublin International Piano Competition and in 2014 took part in a week long series of masterclasses run by the Lang Lang International Foundation. A multiple prize-winner at both Feis Maitiú Cork and Feis Ceoil Dublin, where he achieved first place in five competitions in 2015, he has also won both the Junior Concerto and Senior Recital Competitions in the CSM.
In February 2016 Kevin will be one of eight invited pianists to give recitals at the prestigious Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad Festival in Switzerland. He is a student of Mary Beattie at the CIT Cork School of Music.
This is also a great opportunity to support a very worthwhile local charity. Anyone who has had any dealings with Marymount knows the wonderful work that they do. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
