A visual art exhibition by Amna Walayat and Carol White

Part of the Pause series, MTU Cork School of Music is honoured to host Constellation, a visual art exhibition by Amna Walayat and Carol White.

Amna Walayat is a recipient of many prestigious awards in Ireland, including a Platform Commission as part of the 40th EVA International 2023 in Limerick City. She is a member of Sample Studios and has exhibited extensively. A  former teacher at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa, Carol White has produced numerous international collage exhibitions as well as installations at the Blue House Gallery in Schull (2018) and Sarah Walker Gallery in Castletownbere (2019).

Launch of The Listening Spot | Fleischmann Library, 17:00 - 19:00

Developed by MTU Cork School of Music staff and students, and funded by MTU Teaching and Learning Unit and MTU Arts Office Create Le Chéile Arts Project Award, The Listening Spot will provide a brand-new dedicated audio space for students to explore, play, and enjoy 6,000+ vinyl records and 7,500+ CDs, across all music genres.

The launch will feature the competition winning artwork designed by CSM student Storm Kearney and conclude with a live performance by Brian Priestley (piano), John Philip Murray (drums) and David Whitla (double bass).

Meet the Artists | Foyer, 18:30 - 19:00

Artists Amna Walayat and Carol White present a guided tour of their work currently on display in the main foyer of MTU Cork School of Music.

Platform Showcase | Stack Theatre, 19:00 - 20:00

Featuring recent graduates and current students of the BA in Theatre and Drama Studies degree at MTU Cork School of Music.

Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians | Curtis Auditorium, 19:30 - 20:45

With a unique ensemble comprised of solo violin and cello, two clarinets, four vocalists, four pianos, three marimbas, two xylophones, vibraphone, and maracas, Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians offers one of the most iconic and immersive experiences of the minimalist musical artform. Supported by the MTU Teaching and Learning Unit.

Late Night Recital | Doolan Room, 21:00 - 21:45

Wind-down your Culture Night with an intimate vocal recital presented by staff of MTU Cork School of Music.
