Madrigal ’75 is a vocal ensemble based in Cork City and is ensemble-in-residence to MTU Cork School of Music.  Founded in 1975 by university students, the choir now comprises a diverse combination of singers from all walks of life.  Madrigal ’75 has developed a reputation as a vocal ensemble of great skill and beauty, performing repertoire from the 14th century to contemporary choral works, both sacred and secular, including first performances of new commissions. Since January 2007, Madrigal ’75 has been directed by James Taylor, organist and harpsichordist, who, having held posts in the UK, New Zealand and Canada, now lectures at MTU Cork School of Music.

Madrigal ’75 presents their ever-popular Christmas Concert, TWICE, on both Wednesday 21st AND Thursday 22nd December, with a wonderful selection of seasonal choral music. Madrigal ’75 and guest players will present some rarely performed works alongside favourite Christmas classics, with music spanning the ages from early to contemporary. A concert not to be missed! The ticket price includes light refreshments after the concert.

These concerts are part of the Cork Orchestral Society programme Sept-Dec 2022. Founded in 1937, Cork Orchestral Society presents top-quality classical music of all kinds to the city of Cork, from spellbinding chamber music to spectacular orchestras.
