BLOOMERS MAGAZINE ISSUE 06: HYPERTEXT

Hypertext is a collection of visual art and text exploring the porous boundary between technology and the organism and our acceleration toward the digital sphere. The multidisciplinary approach to dissecting and distilling ideas taken by this featured group of artists deepens the union of knowledge and understanding about new technologies and uncovers new meanings, while simultaneously describing our contemporary cyborgian condition. CIT Crawford College of Art & Design Alumnus - Bloomer Artist Director and Editor of Issue 06 Enid Conway says, ‘Our bodies have a long and inseparable history with technology; every technology we develop is an extension of our own senses and capabilities.’ Our biological and digital interconnectivity is again reiterated by the unprecedented events of 2020 as we navigate a world dramatically altered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The issue features work by; Leah Brendendieck, Natasha Bourke, Eileen Sealy, Mimi Seery, Ellie Niblock, Aoibheann Brady, Aoife Dunne and Llaura McGee. Designers Amber Redmond and Annie Moriarty and writers Emily O’Brien, Theo Hynan Ratcliffe, Rachel Daly and Lily O’Shea.

Bloomers Issue 06: Hypertext was sponsored by CIT Arts Office.
