NOTES # 10

International Dance Day 2015 at CIT Bishopstown Campus.

On invitation from CIT Arts Office, Mihaela Griveva, dancer and choreographer, devised a series of 'pop-up' performances around CIT Bishopstown Campus, with the caption 'Find Me, Find Your Groove', to mark International Dance Day 2015. 3 ten minute performances took place during the course of the day, each developed in collaboration with live musicians. Choreography and performance: Mihaela Griveva; Guitar - Philip Spillane; Trombone - Roddy O' Keeffe; Clarinet - Hazel Newton; Traditional Greek Singing and Frame Drum - Fotini Kokkali.

 

NOTES # 9

As part of a 5 day residency, hosted by CIT Arts Office, Darragh McLoughlin gave a performative lecture in the Rory Gallagher Theatre, CIT Bishopstown Campus. Through this lecture, Darragh McLoughlin introduces some of the techniques he has developed to build, challenge, and expand the audience/performer relationship whilst demonstrating many of his own insights and methods to creating.

 

Notes # 8

As part of a pilot Artist In Residence scheme hosted by CIT Arts Office, Darragh McLoughlin / Squarehead Productions brought his unique show 'The Whistle' to CIT from the 27 April - 1 May 2015. The residency included a performative lecture and workshop by Darragh McLoughlin in the Rory Gallagher Theatre, CIT Bishopstown Campus and development and feedback sessions including a public showing of 'The Whistle' in the Stack Theatre, CIT Cork School of Music.

 

NOTES # 7

On Tuesday, April 28, 2015 the CIT Staff Choir performed a Choral Acoustic Tour of CIT Bishopstown Campus, sampling the variations of different architectural spaces. Starting in the Architecture Factory they continued to the Administration Building and with an impromptu performance in the outdoor circle courtyard, they finished up in the Rory Gallagher Theatre. Katherine Keane, Head of the Department of Architecture concluded the tour with a brief talk on the relationship between acoustics and architecture. Supported by CIT Arts Office, CIT Department of Architecture and members of the CIT Staff Choir.

A short tour and description of the recent exhibition, Continuity Reinscribed, by Mexican artist, Yosi Anaya. Recorded at the CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery, Cork, Irl, 7 - 28 March 2015 and introduced by gallery assistant, Nicola Carragher.

Peadar O' Riada reflects on writing, composing, and sharing that knowledge with his students, followed by a solo composition on the Concertina. This excerpt was taken from a live performance by Seán Ó Sé & Peadar Ó Riada in the Rory Gallagher Theatre, CIT Bishopstown Campus, March 4th as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, 2015.

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, Seán Ó Sé & Peadar Ó Riada performed a lunchtime set in the Rory Gallagher Theatre, CIT Bishopstown Campus, March 4th 2015. In this final song Seán Ó Sé & Peadar Ó Riada perform 'The Banks Of My Own Lovely Lee'.
