This exhibition brings together six Irish artists whose works express their own locales within the theme of environment. Painting, ceramic, print and light-works engage the viewer with the dynamic relationships we forge and imagine between ourselves and the world. The show presents the world through these artistic portals where it can become a platform for interdimensional travel, a playful and comedic statement on the way in which we use the earth, a questioning of where we stand in places of sublime natural beauty whilst simultaneously being aware of its hidden pasts. The world can be seen as material which hosts our innate yearning to build with but also to understand it, to map it and to mimic its processes and movements. “Locales” represents artists who have their own particular way of identifying the departure point from the subject and material of this world and using within their own.
