RDS Craft Awards 2016 - Deadline 8 June

The June 8 deadline for entries for the 2016 RDS Craft Awards is fast approaching. It is now a two strand competition where the work of emerging and established makers is judged separately with specific prizes to support emerging craftspeople.

The 2016 prize fund is in excess of €30,000 with the top prize winners in each strand receiving RDS Awards of Excellence and a cheque for €5,000. Twelve category prize winners in both emerging and established maker strands will receive €500 sponsored by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland. There are also many other sponsored prizes on offer including a free stand for an emerging maker at the 2016 National Crafts & Design Fair and the RDS IACI Muriel Gahan Award of €2,000 to support a developing craft business. Winning and selected entries will be shown at the RDS Craft Awards Exhibition at the Dublin Horse Show, RDS (July 20 - 24, 2016) before travelling to the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Co. Mayo (August – November 2016). Award winners will be shown at the National Crafts & Design Fair, RDS (December, 2016) .
