Robert Short gift, from the Estate of the late Charlie Hennessy

Under the auspices of the CIT Development Office, a selection of works from the collection of the late Charlie Hennessy were purchased in December 2008 with funds donated by Robert Short, a highly successful graduate of Electronic Engineering at CIT. The works are installed in the NIMBUS Centre, a postgraduate research support facility developed by CIT.

The selection was made by a panel including Larry Poland, former Head of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Vera Ryan, Art History Lecturer at CIT CCAD; and Dr. Julian Campbell, Art History Lecturer at CIT CCAD.

They are often early works, representing the beginnings of a process of research and refinement.

The selected works are by artists from or with a particular connection to Cork and its artistic life. Several of the artists are former tutors at the Crawford College of Art & Design, now a constituent school of CIT.

On this site, there is a short text accompanying each image in this collection, giving an overview of the artist and the work.
