CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery and The National Sculpture Factory in association with Cork Film Festival presents 'The Ground Opened Up' by artist Elaine Hoey. 

The installation opens at the CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery on Wednesday 15th- Friday 17th of November 12pm- 9pm.

 

The Ground Opened Up is an interactive virtual-reality installation exploring the bio-political hegemonic control that was exerted over women and children in Mother and Baby institutions under the guise of state sanctioned moral and religious supremacy in Ireland. The piece is a 10-minute VR installation that is designed for two audience members at a time. Participation must be booked in advance online at corkfilmfest.org/events/virtual-reality-installation-the-ground-opened-up/ or by calling 021 427 1711. It is a free event but booking is required as places are limited. Please note that this event is not suitable for minors.
