CIT Cork School of Music Senior and Youth Choirs win Choral Festival Awards

Congratulations to the CIT Cork School of Music Senior and Youth Choirs (conductors James Taylor and Maria Judge) who were awarded 1st prize in the National Competition for Youth Choirs at the 2013 Cork International Choral Festival, and to Cappella Lyrica (conductor Maria Judge), who achieved 2nd prize in Ireland’s Choir of the Year competition and was also the recipient of the Trofaí Cuimhneacháin Philib Ui Laoghaire, a Special Award for the most outstanding performance of a piece in Irish in the National Youth and Adult Choir Competitions. This was awarded to: Cappella Lyrica for the performance of: Suantraí Ghráinne composed by Rhona Clarke.

The CIT CSM Senior and Youth choirs are comprised of part-time students aged 11-18 years and Cappella Lyrica of full-time students of the BMus Programme.

The Choral Festival Competitions and fringe concerts featured a number of choirs conducted by CIT CSM graduates Mary O Brien, Fearghal O Connor and Colm O Regan.
