Title: 'FRAMED SPACES': PARALLELS BETWEEN THE PROCESS OF IMAGE-MAKING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY'

Dr Claire Flahavan Trainee Art Therapist;

Crawford College of Art & Design, CIT, Cork, Ireland

Registrar in Child and Adolescent Mental Health

'This paper offers an illustrated reflection on how experiences of art-making can illuminate our understanding of the therapeutic process. It draws on the author's personal image-making practise and experiences as a student therapist/trainee psychiatrist, as well as relevant literature from the fields of art and psychotherapy. A number of parallels between the image-making process and psychotherapy are explored.'
