Fiona Kelly exhibiting in SOMA Contempoary Gallery, Waterford

Dust Breeding by Fiona Kelly will open August 11th at 6.30pm.

 

Fiona Kelly is a Cork based Artist who completed her MA in Art & Process, receiving first class honours from the Crawford

College of Art & Design 2015. She holds a B.A in Sculpture, G.M.I.T, 2005, and a B.A (Honours) in Fine Art, Printmaking,
received from the Crawford College of Art, Cork, 2008.

Kelly's research into wasteland and abandoned spaces alludes to isolation and the interim. Her observations of the man-made landscape, topographic movement, stagnation and metamorphosing debris become representations; characters in contemporary fables who narrate a legacy of the interim, disposability and the Anthropocene.

Kelly has exhibited both nationally and internationally, upcoming exhibitions in 2016 include; I Went to the Woods, the artist as
wanderer Curated by Chris Clarke and Padraic E. Moore, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork City; Dust Breeding (Solo) SOMA
Contemporary in Waterford City, Ireland; NEU NOW Festival, Amsterdam, The Netherlandsand You Make Mine/ I Make Yours,
Ratamo Galleria, Jyväskylä, Finland.

She has received numerous awards for her Artistic practice including the Impressions Biennial 2015 Purchase Prize; The
Individual Artist Bursary Award form Cork City Arts Council in 2015 & 2014; the Individual Artist Bursary Award from the Arts
Council of Ireland, 2014 and a Culture Ireland Award in 2011.

Fiona Kelly works as a freelance educator and was a contributor to visual arts collective Cork Contemporary Projects (2008-
2012). Her works are in the public collections of The Jyväskylä Museum of Art, Finland, CCAD, Eli Lilly, and C.I.T, Ireland.
