Cork students visit 'Attune' exhibition

10 December, 2013

On Tuesday 26th November two groups of students visited Gary Murphy’s exhibition ‘Attune’ at James Barry Exhibition Centre.

Third year students from St. Aidan’s Community College and transition year students from Bishopstown Community School had the opportunity not only to meet the artist who spoke about his intriguing sound sculpture but also Dr Bryan Kelleher, a photonics researcher at CIT Tyndall who delved into the physics behind this exhibition, to unravel some of its science mysteries . . .

The students also had a rare opportunity to become an ensemble of experimental sound artists with the task of creating an experimental piece of sound using Gary Murphy’s sound sculpture and ….their very own vocal chords!

If you are interested in how they handled this task check out the sound clips below!
